NNES%pi° a Minnesota Department of Transportation
v a
; Qp Transportation Building, St. Paul, MN 55155
tiTOp 'Me
July 7, 1987
Mr. David R. Hartley
Ramsey City Administrator
15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W.
Ramsey, Minnesota 55303
Dear Dave,
RECEIvITD
Jilt - A 195?
PhonA
296-3582
We are pleased to inform you that the Office of Aeronautics,
Minnesota Department of Transportation, concurs with the City of
Ramsey's reaffirmation of the original site approval in 1971 of
the Gateway North (Anoka) Industrial Airport.
In addition, we want to inform you that the proposed airport zon-
ing ordinance and maps that were submitted to this office for the
Gateway North Industrial Airport meets or exceeds the criteria
for airport zoning in Minnesota, within the City of Ramsey only.
The note on page 2 of 2 (Height Limitation Zoning Map) indicates
that the height limitation zoning is not in effect in the cities
of Dayton, Champlin and Anoka. This means that since these com-
munities are not involved in or part of the City of Ramsey's pro-
posed zoning ordinance, that nothing will be inplace or adopted
to restrict the building of a tall structure (tower, building, etc.)
in the approach to the southeast end of the new proposed runway.
If and when this site actually becomes a municipal airport, the
City of Ramsey will have to assure that the additional areas out-
side of the City of Ramsey are protected from this type of develop-
ment. This can be accomplished by one of two methods, each of
which are defined in Minnesota Statute 360.063, Subd. 3.
Enclosed for your information and filing with the Gateway North
Industrial Airport Zoning Board is a Director's Order from the
Office of Aeronautics, Minnesota Department of Transportation,
giving the ordinance formal and final approval. Final action may
begin towards adoption of the ordinance with the procedures out-
lined in Minnesota Statute 360.065.
Please note that if the final approved airport layout plan differs
from the maps included in these zoning documents, the City of
Ramsey may have to rezone the airport prior to receiving state or
federal funds for construction or maintenance improvements.
An Equal Opportunity Employer
