RECEâ–ºvFf
MAR 2 0 1987
Honorable Mayor
City Administrator
City of Ramsey
15153 NW Nowtkea Blvd
Ransey,Ma 55303
Gentlemen:
Robert J. Miller
14726 Ramsey Blvd
Ramsey,! 55303
421-6890
Merck 20, 1987
After attoxding tie Airport Zexing Meeting of Marsh 11, 1987, I feel it
necessary to put in writing my feeling pertaiaiag to this natter.
First of all, while I keartily agree tkat tke airport is tie best idea
for the land use, the long term plan for development sf the surrounding
property seems to be somewlat lacking ix foresight. The parcels of laud
I refer to are direetly West of the airport oa tie west side sf County Road
56. I believe tke safety factors should not be the only faetora in
purehasi.ng tke few existiag homes. A11 airports lave a problem with seise,
and some type of plan should be incorporated mow before it becomes a problem
tat ends up ix litigation. A possible solution would be as proposed by
the Barton Asphalt Company, a berm along County Road 56 aad planting of
nature evergreens as noise and visual site blockade from Heir prepoeed
so*struetioa.
The construction of a berm and planting of trees raigkt be a short
term solution, however another logical answer is to buy the homes as tkey
become available for sale and rezone the property to something more
eonpatible to the airport.
lftsr talking to pilots vie take off from Gateway airport, they all
agree that most of the take offs would be to the Northwest, and the highest
noise pollution from engines and propellors would occur at tke Northwest
end of the runway.
Tour asap shows that you propose to buy land in Safety Zone C, just
North of my property ex the West side of Cauaty Road 56. That parcel has'
me louses oa it aad it seems to me that if yen deem it necessary to buy
that parcel, some provision should be made to buy parcels closer to tke
point of take off where the maximum noise pollution would oe ur.
