Landscape Architects The City of Ramsey is contemplating the acquisition and improvement of Gateway North Industrial Airport. An environmental assessment report has been prepared for the proposed project and appropriate excerpts are being submitted along with this request for review. The proposed project requires the relocation of County State Aid Highway 116 near a Type III wetland (Anoka County 118). Enclosed is a copy of the Airport Lay out Plan, an aerial photo and a generalized wetlands map. The proposed right-of-way alignment is shown on the enclosed plans. Actual roadway width would be 24 feet with a 120' road right of way. Final alignment of the roadway has not as yet been determined, however, it appears that the roadbed itself would be out of the wetland area. We would appreciate receiving any comments that your office may have in this matter. A second item of consideration is that storm water runoff from the airfield is planned to be drained predominantly to the east. Discharge of some runoff to Wetland No. 117 is being considered as well as the need for future detention basins. As ultimate development, approximately 12% of the airport land area would have impervious surfaces. Drainage concepts will be further refined as the project moves into design development. We would appreciate receiving your concerns in this regard as well. We had originally requested comments from USFWS on February 8, 1988, but received no response.
