While the regional
system plan recognizes the role that private airports serve
' within the region, no forecasts are available for either
numbers of based aircraft or operations. Neither is it
assumed that privately owned facilities will be developed to
' accomodate the aviation demand within the region. Although
historical statistics and forecasts are limited, a range of
probable growth can be established assuming that aviation
demand characteristics within the metropolitan area also
' apply to a publicly owned and improved facility at Gateway.
5.3 Based Aircraft
The forecast of based aircraft (Table 5 -2) assumes a rela-
tively stagnant condition until facility improvements are
' undertaken. Specifically, the four driving factors for
growth are long term assurance to aircraft owners is that
the airport will continue in operation, a paved runway,
reasonable and consistent ground services and hangar availa-
bility.
1
1
5 -2
