' the County Seat, Princeton is doing much better because of the <br />airport. <br />1 ` Virgil Barnes - 2807 Taylor Street - Stated that he is Airport <br />Manager at Gateway and has visited many small towns with small <br />' airports and most of those towns are progressing or planning to <br />progress or expand. The airport traffic levels we are talking <br />about at Gateway in the near future would be no greater than <br />' the traffic level at Gateway 5 years ago. The initial local <br />investment will be off -set 3 or 4 fold by the revenue generated <br />from the airport being there. <br />' Commissioner Sieber referred to the local investment and the <br />multiplying affect coming back to the City 3 or 4 fold and pointed <br />out that in the best of cases, it would mean a 10-15% margin for <br />' Ramsey. <br />Chairman Tppel referred to Mr. Babcock's comment that -one small <br />' store will.generate $40,000 in revenue for Ramsey and inquired <br />as to what Ramsey has out here now that will attract that business <br />to locate in Ramsey. He further commented that a growing . <br />industrial park creates jobs and even if those employees don't <br />' live in Ramsey they will patronize businesses in the area. To <br />develop an industrial park you need an attraction and an airport <br />is an attraction that draws. <br />' Commissioner Greenberg agreed add stated. that a good portion of <br />his business comes from- employees of businesses in the area.. <br />Commissioner Sieber pointed out that an increase in business can <br />' also be attributed to the increase in population in Ramsey. <br />' Doug Lida. R Stated that supply and demand determines home values <br />and an increase in employment- opportunities in Ramsey would <br />increase'the'demand for homes. Mr. Leda also stated that first <br />' impressions also determine property values and first impressions <br />you get coming into Ramsey on Cty.
