Cambridge
Jackson
Princeton
Redwing
Waseca
A comparison of airport 0 & M costs at existing airports
with facilities similar to those proposed at Gateway,
indicates probable range of annual 0 & M expense.
TABLE 10-4
Annual 0 & M Costs
for
Comparable Airports
79-80 80-81 81-82 82-83 83-84
$3,901 $4,923 $11,834 $6,631 $8,815
8,869 5,965 19,132 16,181 15,530
11,397 8,963 19,910 15,380 NA
6,028 6,701 7,370 14,870 14,945
5,365 9,675 5,897 7,512 10,399
Source: MN/DOT 8-16-84
Runway Based
Comments Length Aircraft
REILS 3200 17
REILS/VASI 3600' 14
REILS/VASI 3200' 13
3000' 8
VASI 3400' 10
Averaging costs for Jackson, Princeton, and Redwing for
the last two years yields a figure of $15,380. Jackson
and Redwing, however, have no taxiway. Redwing also does
not have REILS or VASI. Thus, with the proposed develop-
ment at Gateway, it can be expected that 0 & M costs would
be about 10% higher or about $17,000 a year subject to
inflation and additional building area development. This
figure is approximately 1.5% of Stage I construction costs
excluding acquisition, and thus appears to be reasonable.
Major expense items will be:
Mowing
Snow Removal
Electrical Repair & Electricity
Insurance
Pavement Maintenance (crack sealing, friction seal
coating)
Building Maintenance
Equipment Rental (if necessary)
10.10 Revenues
Airport revenues are primarily derived from leases and
from state aid. Minnesota's Division of Aeronautics pro-
vides aid for 0 & M expenses for Minnesota airports. The
extent of funds received depends on runway length and
minimum levels of maintenance expenditures by the sponsor.
State aid funds for this size of facility are set at a
maximum of $5000/ year.
10-16
