ago because the Commission did not have any answers at that time;
all we wanted to do at this time is present to you what information
we do have.
Gretta Egge - You polled the pilots and businesses; you should have
polled the citizens; let us know what an airport will do to our
assessments and find out if there is any interest or opposition and
a survey of the residents should be included in the final draft of
the Airport Master Plan.
Chairman Ippel agreed with Ms. Egge and stated that it hasn't been
done at this point in time because the Commission is not even sure
of what they would be proposing. We are trying to assemble some
facts and figures and we want to be as honest and open as possible.
Commissioner Patz stated that he agreed to serve on the Commission
because the VoTech is interested in the future of the airport; if
the facility is not upgraded, the Tech Center will move. This
Commission has not formed an opinion; so few people understand
what the airport is about and they should come to the Open House on
June 2, 1984.
Brenda Bauerkemper - Residents of Ramsey urge the Commission not
to just look at the dollar figures; keen the resident's interest
in mind when you make your decision.
Sharon Mager - Twin engine airplanes are landing at the airport
now and they are a much noisier craft and they are not allowed to
land at Gateway.
Chairman Ippel stated that twin engine airplanes are allowed to
land at Gateway. People operate under the assumption that bigger
engines are noisier than smaller engines and that is not so. Noise
level tests will be conducted at Gateway on the types of planes
that would be allowed there: .twin engine, big single engine,
intermediate single engine and trainers.
Commissioner Greenberg inquired if noise in the vicinity of the
airport is really offensive now.
Willard Breu - 7213 153rd Ln - Incoming and ouggoing traffic from
the airport goes right over my house and it is offensive and
causes electrical disturbances; increased use of the airport would
be offensive.
Commissioner Patz inquired if Mr. Breu would allow for a noise
level test to be conducted from his property.
Will Berry - 7220 153rd Ln- Stated that the air traffic noise
is offensive to him and that there is a high tension power line
across his property that many aircraft just clear.
Chairman Ippel stated that the Commission is talking of moving
that runway to the north and raising it up which would change
that angle of approach.
AP/May 16, 1984
Public Meeting
Pace 11 of 13
