Councilmember Wise introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION #10-02-061 <br />2010 BONDING REQUEST FOR RAMSEY RAIL STATION <br />WHEREAS, the Northstar Commuter Rail Project (the "Project") is a 40-mile commuter <br />rail serving communities along the Northstar Corridor from Big Lake to Minneapolis; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the Full Funding Grant Agreement, stations are being <br />constructed in Big Lake, Elk River, Anoka, Coon Rapids, and Minneapolis; and <br />WHEREAS, a station serving the City of Fridley will be constructed using local funding; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Northstar Advanced Corridor Plan and environmental documentation <br />also included the Ramsey Rail Station; and <br />WHEREAS, the Ramsey Rail Station was removed from the initial phase of the project <br />in order to secure grant funding via the Federal Transit Administration; and <br />WHEREAS, the Ramsey Rail Station would clearly provide valuable transit service to <br />the citizens and businesses of Anoka County; and <br />WHEREAS, the Ramsey Rail Station will stimulate economic growth and development <br />in Anoka County and the Ramsey Town Center. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br />1) That the Anoka County Regional Rail Authority hereby supports a request by the City of <br />Ramsey for State Bonding for the Ramsey Rail Stations, as consistent with the vision to <br />complete the Northstar Project. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Look, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br />Mayor Ramsey <br />Councilmember Wise <br />Councilmember Look <br />Councilmember Elvig <br />Councilmember Dehen <br />
