2) Project Management Software Review
Management Intern Hendricks reviewed staff's report.
Councilmember Jeffrey asked if the softwaze would be live to staff in the field and if Council
would be able to access it easily in read-only form. He stated he was concerned about the
support and data entry.
Councilmember McGlone expressed concern about the value of the softwaze. He indicated he
did not see the value in it for him.
City Administrator Ulrich noted project tracking had been brought up at a previous Council. He
noted if this created more work for staff, staff would not want to do this, but there might be a
need for ahigher-level update. He stated the dashboard would cover a lot of this information.
Public Works Director Olson believed this would require an incredible amount of work for staff
and he was not in favor of the softwaze.
Councilmember Dehen arrived at 6:30 p.m.
Councilmember Jeffrey stated there was also a lot of freewaze available that staff could look at if
there was an interest in some type of tracking software.
The Council's consensus was to not purchase the project management software at this time.
3) Consider Mowing and Weekly Park Facility and Trash Maintenance Services -
Contractor in In-House Forces
Parks Supervisor Riverblood reviewed staff's report.
Councilmember Jeffrey believed staff should keep doing the maintenance.
Councilmember Dehen asked whaT the policy was on calling a person to inquire about their
quote.
Public Works Director Olson responded it was staffs responsibility to give sufficient
information to someone who was going to make a quote and in this case, the person was called
because their quote was 50 percent less than the next nearest person.
Parks Supervisor Riverblood stated he had not thought about what the policy was, but he would
not want to bring to the Council information that he had not personally checked out and it was
his best judgment to contact this person about their quote.
City Council Work Session /April 13, 2010
Page 2 of 3
