He stated the <br />benefit of hiring consultants was the savings on benefits and they were being paid specific for the <br />jobs needed. Mayor Ramsey stated he did not know if it was an Economic Development <br />Coordinator that they were looking for. Councilmember McGlone stated he was not looking into <br />rushing into any decisions until he receives further information. <br />Motion failed. Voting Yes: Mayor Ramsey, Councilmembers Jeffrey. Absent: Councilmember Elvig. <br />Further Discussion: Councilmember Wise stated he was not opposed to hiring someone and he <br />agreed the Deputy City Administrator should not be doing the administrative work. Deputy City <br />Administrator Nelson noted the City did have secretarial support and she did hand off <br />administrative work to them to handle the administrative process. She indicated there were some <br />things that could not be handed off to a secretary, such as working a deal. Councilmember Wise <br />stated the City needed to look at streamlining City duties so there might be room for a lower pay <br />grade individual who could do some of the duties. Councilmember Dehen stated he was also not <br />opposed to hiring someone, but he wanted to see where that person would fit in and how it would <br />be paid for. Councilmember Look stated the City should also look at interns to fill in. <br />Councilmember Jeffrey asked staff to look at the Economic Development Coordinators PD and <br />bring this back to Council. <br />8. The City of Ramsey, in conjunction with <br />the cities of Andover, Anoka, Blaine, Coon Rapids, East Bethel and Fridley, is co- <br />sponsoring acompost bin and rain barrel sale even held on Saturday, May 15. The sale <br />event will take place in the parking lot of the old Target site in Coon Rapids (11000 <br />Crooked Lake Boulevard), rain or shine, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. <br />• Annual Pet Clinic.
