EDA BUSINESS
Case #1: MARQUIS SIGN INFORMATION (PRESENTATION)
Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan presented Case #1
John Mylrea and a representative from Daktronics were scheduled to give a presentation and
discuss sign information in greater detail but were unable to attend the meeting due to bad
weather. In lieu of the presentation, the EDA discussed several key points of consideration such
as the type of sign desired, size of the sign, sign use, ownership of the sign, funding of the sign,
advertising revenue, and whether or not the sign may be placed on Hwy 10.
Member Elvig questioned whether or not the EDA would consider pursuing a sign privately as
he feels it could be built for less money. He noted that BOB FM approached him and expressed
interest in this project. Economic Development Consultant, Mike Mulrooney, suggested that
research be done on the newly installed sign at McCarthy Auto World in Coon Rapids. Since it
is a recent shucture, the costs associated with its construction would be current numbers.
It was determined that more information is needed before any decisions can be made. Economic
Development Coordinator Sullivan was directed to contact, BOB FM for more information
regazding what they envision for this project and what their terms are; contact McCarthy Auto
World for information regazding construction of their sign; request the sign ordinance from the
City of Coon Rapids; and finally, reschedule Daktronics.
Case #2: CONSIDER PROPOSALS TO CONTRACT CONSULTING SERVICES
TO PURSUE FEDERAL FUNDING FOR TRANSIT INFRASTRUCTURE
IMPREOVEMENTS
Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan presented Case #2.
'Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan introduced Elwyn Tinklenberg and Jodi Ruehle
'from The Tinklenberg Group.
