Councilmember Elvig stated he did not want self-hauling and he liked the separate can pick up <br />every couple of weeks. He stated he saw no reason to not go with ACE again or go out for <br />RFP's if the system was working right. <br />Finance Director Lund noted the City had not heard of any complaints regarding the recycling <br />fee. <br />Mike Berkopec, ACE General Manager, noted he started this program and the option he believed <br />was the best was to have the recycling go along with the garbage hauling. He indicated this type <br />of a program would be successful. He stated they would like to renew the contract as they had <br />put in a large capital investment into the program a few years ago. <br />Councilmember Wise stated he did not believe 12FP's were necessary as RFP's cost money and <br />he did not believe it was worth it. <br />Chairperson Look stated he liked the service received from ACE and he would like to see fewer <br />trucks on the road. <br />Councilmember Elvig stated he did not want to go with the single source for both trash and <br />recycle at this time. He suggested maybe a survey could go out asking if they would want a <br />single source. <br />Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Wise, to recommend that the <br />City Council to go with ACE for another two years on the recycling contract. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Look, Councilmembers Elvig and Wise.
