Consent # 5. OM
Approve Special Events Permit for Amphitheater Area
and Update Facility Use Policy and Associated Fees
By: Mark Riverblood, Parks Supervisor
Background:
At the July 20a', 2010 work session, staff was directed to place on Council's agenda, both a Special Events.
Permit for the amphitheater for the remainder of the year as well as updated Facility Use and Rental Policy.
The latter is to update the policy and fees to account for both the new conference room as well as
amphitheater within the COR.
The Special Events Permit in favor of the city is to allow for the consumption and sale of alcohol in
accordance with city and state requirements in the amphitheater area. Attached to this consent case is the;
Facility Use and Rental Policy, and the Special Events Permit which includes an exhibit that demarcates the
area wherein alcohol may be allowed for city sanctioned events.
Observations:
At the work session, it was discussed that all aspects of the policy and fees may be revisited later this year, or
early in 2011-understanding that "The Draw "and amphitheater are new venues for the city and some
amendment to the fees and policy may be expected, based upon observations of the park's usage.
Funding:
Approving the Special Events Permit or the Facility Use and Rental Policy does not authorize any funding,
but does provide for the opportunity for certain revenues. The Special Use Permit as it relates to the Big
Walter Smith performance on August 5~', 2010 and roll-out of the COR brand will include modest
expenditures (including budgeted staff time) that are authorized separate from this case.
Council Action:
Motion to approve the Special Events Permit and the Facility Use and Rental Policy.
Reviewed by:
Public Works Director
Management Intern
City Clerk
Deputy City Administra r ' • or of Co evelopment
Police Chief
City Administrator
CC: 7/27/10
Attachments:
Special Events Permit
Facility Use and Rental Policy
Map
