Stat. §§ 256B.41 to 2568.48, <br />256B.50, 256B.502) <br />Minnesota Statutes, section 256B.434, establishes the contractual <br />alternative payment demonstration project, an alternative to <br />reimbursement under Rule 50. _ Minnesota Statutes, section <br />256B.441, provides a phase -in of nursing facility operating payment <br />rates. <br />Most certified boarding care homes in Minnesota function as nursing <br />homes; they provide the same services as nursing homes and are <br />considered "nursing facilities" for purposes of MA reimbursement, <br />They are called "certified" because they are certified to participate in <br />the MA program. However, MDH licensure standards for these <br />facilities are less stringent than those for nursing homes, and <br />certified boarding care homes do not meet the skilled nursing facility <br />criteria that would allow them to receive Medicare reimbursement. <br />52 <br />
