NOTE CITY COUNCIL MINUTES The following Council minutes were noted: 1) City Council regular meeting minutes dated May 11, 2010 2) City Council regular meeting minutes dated June 8, 2010 PUBLIC HEARINGS/BOARD BUSINESS Case #1: Public Hearing-Request for a Variance to Construct a Detached Accessory Building Nearer the Front Property Line than the Principal Structure at 16151 Olivine Street NW; Case of Colin and Laura Hogue Public Hearin Chairperson Van Scoy called the public hearing to order at 7:01 p.m. Presentation Associate Planner Gladhill presented the Staff Report. Citizen Input Board Member Hunt stated that because of the slope from the existing garage to the proposed location there would not be room to drive between the two buildings and into the new building without making an "s" turn. Chairperson Van Scoy questioned what the code was for how close structures can be. Associate Planner Gladhill stated three feet from eave overhang to eaue overhang per building code. Colin and Laura Hogue, 16151 Olivine Street explained they want to store a boat and an ATV in the new garage. They stated they made sure the neighbors were fine with the location. A sand point well is stored in the tin shed and if they put a garage in front of it, it would be difficult to access the sand point well. Chairperson Van Scoy questioned what the objection is to the second proposed location. Mr. Hogue stated there is a 25 year old apple tree, strawberry and blueberry patches in that location. Ms. Hogue stated they are a very tree and garden oriented family and it would be difficult to remove those items. Motion by Board Member Cleveland, seconded by Board Member Levine, to close the public hearing. Motion Carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Van Scoy, Board Members, Cleveland, Levine, Brauer, Hunt, and Rogers. Voting No: None. Absent: Board Member Dunaway. Board of Adjustment/July 1, 2010 Page 2 of 4
