Use <br />Standard Type <br />Draft Standard Narrative <br />All parking areas and structures, except shoreline facilities that require a location adjoining the water, must meet <br />Structure Setbacks & <br />the dimensional and performance standards in these rules, and be designed to incorporate topographic and <br />River -Dependent <br />Screening <br />vegetative screening of parking areas and structures. <br />Commercial & <br />Industrial Uses, <br />Shoreline facilities must comply with chapters 6120 and 6115, MN Statutes, section 866.115, including: <br />Water Supply, <br />• be designed in a compact fashion so as to minimize the shoreline area impacted; <br />Wastewater <br />• blend in with the surrounding shoreline so that all maneuvering activities can be normally confined to an <br />Treatment, <br />area bounded by the property lines as extended into the river; <br />Stormwater <br />Shoreline Facilities <br />. minimize the surface area occupied in relation to the number of watercraft or barges to be served; and <br />Facilities, <br />. minimize encroachment waterward of the OHWL. <br />Hydropower <br />All other applicable federal, state, and local regulations and permit requirements must be met. <br />Advertising signs will generally be guided by underlying zoning, provided that: (1) the signs meet all required <br />dimensional and performance standards in these rules, and (2) the signs are not visible from the river. Directional <br />signs for patrons arriving by watercraft are allowed per chapter 6120. (6120 provides that uses that depend on <br />Signs <br />Standards <br />patrons arriving by watercraft may use signs to convey necessary information to the public. Signs may be located in <br />the SIZ, and must convey only the location and name of the establishment and the general types of goods and <br />services available, must be <10 ft in height, <32 sq ft in area. Lighting must be shielded to prevent illumination out <br />across the river and to the sky.) <br />Slope Preservation Zone (SPZ) = land on and within 20' of bluffs and very steep slopes. <br />Shore Impact Zone (SIZ) = land located between the OHWL and a line parallel to it at % the required structure setback from the OHWL (but not less than 50') or the <br />area 50' landward of the OHWL in agricultural areas. <br />River -Dependent Commercial & Industrial Use = the use of land for commercial or industrial purposes, where access to and use of a surface water feature is an <br />integral part of the normal conductance of business, including but not limited to barge facilities and marinas. <br />Shoreline Facilities = facilities that require a location adjoining the water as part of their function, including but not limited to barge slips, commodity loading and <br />unloading equipment, watercraft lifts, and short-term watercraft mooring for patrons . <br />Prepared by Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, August 5, 2010 <br />
