There will be a total of two platforms located
on the north and south side of the tracks which are designed to meet a minimum
length of 425 feet, with room for extension to 600 feet to accommodate additional rail
cars in the future. Pedestrian movement between the platforms is achieved via
elevators and a walkway over the existing railway. Access to the station platforms
from the adjacent structured parking (Ramsey Municipal Parking Ramp) will be
provided via at -grade designated crosswalks. The Ramsey Municipal Parking Ramp
was constructed by the City of Ramsey at this location in anticipation of a Northstar
Commuter Rail station located directly adjacent to it.
Board funding in 2011 to 2013 is being requested in order to secure both local and
federal dollars. In 2011, Anoka County is requesting a 2011 grant for the Ramsey
Station of $1,000,000 and a Board funding commitment of 21.3% of the total project
cost, up to amount of $3.2 million. Funding needs are contingent on the receipt of
funding commitments from the City of Ramsey, the Anoka County Regional Railroad
Authority, Metropolitan Council and the State. .
On February 26, 2010, the City of Ramsey issued a letter to Commissioner Dan
Erhart, Chair, Northstar Corridor Development Authority, identifying the funding that
has been requested for this project. This letter identified that the following federal
funding sources have been requested by the City of Ramsey:
• $1,400,000 in Fiscal Year 2011 Appropriations; and
• $3,720,000 in a Reauthorization Bill.
Board actions to date
Grants
2009 Capitol Grant Agreement for Fridley Commuter Rail Station: $9,921,000;
2009 Operating Grant Agreement: $3,793,362; and
2010 Operating Grant Agreement: $5,726,553.
Funding Commitments
Letters of No Prejudice (LONP) Approval
June 9, 2010
