At the November 2, 2010 General Election, Ramsey residents will be voting for a candidate to <br />fill the at -large Council seat. Ramsey residents in Wards 1 and 3 will also vote on a candidate to <br />fill the seat in each of their wards. The following question will also appear on the November <br />ballot. <br />SHALL THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY BE AMENDED TO RETAIN <br />THE MAYOR- COUNCIL PLAN (CITY ADMINISTRATOR) FORM OF <br />GOVERNMENT, RATHER THAN PROCEED WITH THE ADOPTION OF THE <br />COUNCIL - MANAGER PLAN (CITY MANAGER) FORM OF GOVERNMENT <br />CURRENTLY SCHEDULED TO OCCUR ON JANUARY 1, 2011? <br />City Question 1 <br />CHARTER AMENDMENT TO CONTINUE THE MAYOR - COUNCIL PLAN OF <br />GOVERNMENT <br />Since its incorporation in 1974, the City of Ramsey has operated under the Mayor - Council Plan <br />(City Administrator) form of government. In 2006, the City Charter was amended to change <br />from the Mayor - Council -Plan (City Administrator) to the Council- Manager Plan (City Manager) <br />effective January 1, 2011. The City's voters are being asked by the following question to <br />approve or not approve this form of government change. <br />A YES vote means retaining the Mayor - Council (City Administrator) form of government. A <br />NO vote means a Council- Manager form of government (City Manager) will be implemented <br />effective January 1, 2011. <br />CITY QUESTION <br />GENERAL ELECTION <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />NOVEMBER 2, 2010 <br />To vote for a question, fill in the oval next to the word "YES" on that question. Ramsey has operated under this type <br />of government since its incorporation as a city in 1974. In 2006, the City's Charter was <br />amended, by Ordinance of the City Council, to change from the Mayor - Council Plan to the <br />Council- Manager Plan, which is a City Manager form of government. This plan was scheduled <br />to go into effect on January 1, 2011. The City Council has requested that this question be <br />presented to the voters to decide what form of government they prefer for their City.
