P18
7.03: Consider Award of Contract for the Installation of Concrete Sidewalk along 150
Lane NW
Public Works Director Olson reviewed the staff report.
Motion by Councilmember McGlone, seconded by Councilmember Jeffrey, to award a contract
to Landmark Concrete for the installation of a sidewalk along the north side of 150 Lane from
Nowthen Boulevard to connect with the existing sidewalks within The Meadows subdivision
along Helium Street, in the amount of $38,171.
Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Ramsey, Councilmembers Elvig, McGlone, Wise, Look,
Dehen, and Jeffrey. Voting No: None.
7.04: Adoption of an Ordinance Amending Chapter 54 of City Code, Related to an
Expanded Area for Restricted Roller Device Usage within the Town Center District
Public Works Director Olson reviewed the staff report.
Councilmember Elvig asked if additional work would be done on this ordinance to detail some
of the language. His concern is whether the term `roller devices' includes bicycles and people
that are doing passive roller blading on streets or sidewalks.
Public Works Director Olson explained that the definition of roller devices appears on page two
of the handouts for this case. He said that the only change being asked for in wording in the
ordinance is to change Sunwood Drive to Bunker Lake Boulevard.
Police Chief Way reiterated that only the wording to expand the restricted area needs to be
changed in the ordinance. The reason the ordinance does not allow roller blading and bicycles
on sidewalks is in preparation of shops and businesses that will eventually open onto the
sidewalk area.
Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Jeffrey to waive the reading of
and adopt Ordinance 10 -12 amending section 54.2 (a) of City Code, to expand the restricted area
of roller devices within the Town Center District.
A.roll call vote was performed by the City Administrator:
Councilmember Jeffrey aye
Councilmember Dehen aye
Councilmember Look aye
Councilmember Wise aye
Councilmember McGlone aye
Councilmember Elvig aye
Mayor Ramsey aye
City Council / August 9, 2010
