CONSENT # S do <br />ADOPT RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT FOR <br />PARTICIPATION IN THE DWI TASK FORCE GRANT WITH THE MINNESOTA <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY AND THE BLAINE POLICE DEPARTMENT AS <br />THE ADMINISTRATOR OF THE GRANT <br />By: Police Chief Jim Way <br />Background: <br />The Ramsey Police Department has participated in the Anoka County DWI Task Force for <br />several years. The Task Force was recently awarded a $200,000 grant for DWI enforcement <br />from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety. The City of Blaine and the Blaine Police <br />Department have agreed to act as the administrator and fiscal agent for the grant. The Blaine <br />Police Department will receive $20,000 from the grant to cover the costs of administering the <br />program. It is anticipated the grant will be renewed for 2012 and 2013. <br />The Anoka County Task Force needs a resolution adopted by the Council authorizing the City of <br />Ramsey to enter into a grant agreement with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety for <br />DWI Enforcement for the period from October 1, 2010 through September 30, 2013. The <br />resolution also needs to allow City of Blaine, the Blaine Police Department and the Blaine Police <br />Chief to be the fiscal agent and administrator of the grant. <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends Council adopt the Resolution authorizing the execution of the required <br />agreement with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety and allowing the the City of Blaine <br />to administer the grant. <br />Council Action: <br />Motion to adopt Resolution #10- 10 -XXX , authorizing the execution of the agreement with the <br />Minnesota Department of Public Safety and the City of Blaine for the DWI Task Force Grant. <br />Reviewed by: <br />Police Chief <br />City Administrator: <br />CC: 10/12/10 <br />
