CONSIDER PROPOSAL FOR GRAPHICS COR / RAIL STATION By: Heidi Nelson, Executive Director BACKGROUND: CASE # In early November, The COR will host the VA Groundbreaking ceremony presented by PSD and the Veterans Affairs Office. The event will include local, state, and national dignitaries, many of which are intimately involved in the regional transportation improvements we are working to get underway, most notably the Northstar Rail Station. This is an opportunity to showcase The COR, and most importantly the importance of the rail station to the project, and the new Veteran's facility The 2011 HRA budget includes an operating budget for Marketing and Advertising, which would include items such as banners, signs, and display boards commonly used at events such as this. With the pending event, the development team would like to have a few of the planned items completed and in place prior to this event. Attached is a proposal for three items for HRA consideration. The first is an updated rendering of the area surrounding the Municipal Plaza with the new projects on either side, and the proposed rail station. We would make use of the existing rendering for much of this task, but would need to revise that to reflect the new additions. The second would be 3 to 4 display boards featuring and focusing on the transit aspect of the project. The final item is the design and installation of several light pole banners to focus on The COR and the VA. DEVELOPMENT TEAM RECOMMENDATION: The Development Team recommends the HRA consider the described items, provide additional input, and approve the attached Proposal directing staff to complete the items in conjunction with the upcoming event. HRA ACTION: Motion to approve the contract with Sharp Creative, and direct the team to prepare the appropriate materials for the VA Groundbreaking ceremony.
