Planning Commission/Regular/June 5, 2003 <br /> c. ?lanning Commission/Special Meeting/June 25, 2003 <br />4) Approve City Council and Council Committee Meeting Minutes <br /> a. Personnel Committee/Regular/June 24, 2003 <br /> b. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, and Councilmembers Elvig, Pearson, Cook, Kurak, <br />and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />COUNCIL BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case A: <br /> <br />Franchise Fees and the North Metro Chamber of Commerce's Actions of <br />Distributing a Political Flyer <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig made the following statement: "Mr. Mayor, I am disappointed and <br />disgusted with the actions of a local organization. The North Metro Chamber of Commerce <br />distributed a political flyer stating that this Council was going to pass new franchise fees. I've <br />checked with the Mayor, most of the City staff, and with my colleagues sitting here with me and <br />the Chamber did not research their facts. They didn't ask one question of anyone within this <br />City's staff befbre they went and spent a fair amount of their member's money and making <br />accusations about something they knew nothing about. The North Metro Chamber boasts about <br />being a business oriented organization. In business, you're forced deliberate, very complex <br />equations regarding revenues, expenditures and outside stimulace that you may or may not have <br />control over. The point is, you do your homework before you ever take action on an issue.
