The comprehensive plan amendment is located at the northwest comer of State <br />Highway a7 and Alpine Dri,te. The amendment proposes r.o change the city's comprehensive plan in <br />order to gu/de 24. [ 1 acres, currently designated as Places to Shop to Medium Density Urban Residential. <br /> <br />Council review finds the proposed amendment, is in conformity with the metropolitan system plans, <br />consistent 'ruth the Regional 8lue£rint, and has no impact on plans of surrounding local government. <br />Therefore, the city may place d-ns amendment into effect. The tbllowing comments are provided as <br />admsory remarks. <br /> <br />Transit (Adam Karnngton 612-349-7797) <br /> <br />The Ever~een Point town.home development may impact travel to downtown Minneapolis, the park and <br />ride capacity at R.iverdale Park and Ride, and buses serving the park and nde. <br /> <br />Park and Recreation Open SDace (Michael McDonouglx 651-602-[ 105a.) <br /> <br />The Rum P,2ver Central Regional Park is the nearest regional facility. The Rum River is a state <br />des/gnated wild, scenic and recreazional river as well as a state canoe and boat/ng route. Water quali/'y, <br />native vegetaUon, birds, and wildlife habitat in the area are important to maintaining and impro,,Sng the <br />quality o~' rl~e r/ver corndor. Native vegemt/on should be utilized to ~e extent possible on the site and in <br />partacular as a part of any new landscaping of the project site.
