Case #3: Upgrades to Well House #3 Exterior <br />Utilities Supervisor Nelson reviewed the staff report and would like to discuss improving the <br />exterior finish of well house #3. <br />The consensus of the Committee is for staff to get pricing on the removal of the propane, <br />hooking up to natural gas, painting or siding the brick and then bring forward those figures to a <br />future Public Works meeting. <br />Case #4 Discuss Use of Plastic Pipe for Water Service Lines <br />City Engineer Himmer stated that a local builder, Mr. Tom Purmort was present with his sales <br />representative, Mr. Brad Anderson to discuss the use of polyethylene pipe for water services to <br />residential homes in the. City. <br />The consensus of the Committee was this is an engineering decision more than it is a City <br />Council decision and staff should work with Mr. Purmort and his representative to see if this <br />type of technology makes sense to bring into the City. <br />Case #5 Policy Regarding Traffic Sign Retro Reflectivity <br />Street Supervisor Reimer reviewed the schedule that the Minnesota Manual on Uniform Traffic <br />Control Devices requires of all agencies that maintain roadways open to the public and adopt a <br />sign maintenance program designed to maintain traffic sign retro reflectivity at specific levels. <br />Chairperson Elvig discussed that we haven't had a policy on our major crossroads to rename <br />them and to go along with that upgrade on those major roadway signs to larger ones and asks that <br />staff start moving on it and develop a program <br />Motion by Chairperson Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Dehen to recommend to the City <br />Council adopts the Sign Maintenance Policy. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Elvig, Councilmember Dehen and McGlone. Voting <br />No: None <br />COMMITTEE INPUT <br />Discuss Creation of Survey for Proposed Street Reconstruction Policy <br />Staff is asking the Committee for input for distributing a survey to the residents on the street <br />reconstruction policy. <br />Public Works Committee / July 20, 2010 <br />Page 3 of 4 <br />
