POLICY BOARD BUSINESS Case #1: Yard Waste Drop -Off Site Environmental Coordinator Anderson presented the staff report and reiterated the concem of how this type of a program would be funded. Discussion ensued about the two conceptual options, one being a full compost site and one being more of a yard waste drop off site. General consensus of the Board was that if this were to be exclusively a public operation, than it would certainly need to be looked at as just a drop off site rather than a true compost site. Some of the thoughts that the Board had were: • Look into a possible curbside option where during a specified time in the fall, residents could purchase stickers (or something similar) and then set out bags of yard waste for collection. • Either in place of the fall recycling event or sometime after that event, hold a yard waste collection event over a weekend or a couple of week nights. • Explore possible joint services opportunities with surrounding communities. • Explore possible private /public partnership. • Research if utilizing any of the SCORE funding is a possibility to fund a collection event. Environmental Coordinator Anderson stated that he will try and research these ideas and will report back to the Board. BOARD /STAFF INPUT Board Member Freeburg distributed an article from the LA Times titled `Building with Wolves: Their reintroduction into Yellowstone has helped restore an entire ecosystem lost when the creatures were exterminated decades ago". Environmental Coordinator Anderson informed the Board that a site in The COR has been awarded the VA Clinic and that the developer would like to break ground yet this year. ADJOURNMENT Motion by Board Member Riley- Daniels and seconded by Board Member Freeburg to adjourn the meeting.
