PC CASE <br /> <br /> AUTHORIZE APPOINTMENT OF PAID ON-CALL FIRE FIGHTERS <br /> By: Heidi Nelson, Assistant City Administrator <br />Background: <br />Due to the addition of a second fa'e station and the on-going goal of a staff of 40 firefighters, the <br />Fire Chief is requesting the addition of nine new members to the RamSey Fh'e Department. A Fire <br />Fighter Infol~nation Session was held on February 16th, 2002 and all interested individuals were <br />given an opportunity to complete an application packet. Candidates were interviewed by a panel <br />consisting of the Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief, and Assistant City Administrator. Candidates <br />have also passed the physical agility test. <br /> <br />At this time the intelwiew panel is recommending that membership with the Ramsey Fire <br />Department be offered to the following candidates: <br /> Timothy Bergerson <br /> John Bromen <br /> Chad Fossum <br /> Daniel Johnson <br /> Matthew Kohner <br /> Dustin Lemke <br /> Roger Peterson <br /> David Rollins <br /> Brian Wetted/nd <br /> The stm-t dates of the nine candidates, pending council approval, will be May 9th, 2002. All <br /> appointments are contingent upon satisfactory results of the criminal background checks, driving <br /> record checks, and required physical examinations and drug screens. <br /> Staff Recommendation: <br />Staff is recommending Timothy Bergerson, John Bromen, Chad Fossum, Daniel Johnson, <br />Matthew Kohner, Dustin Lemke, Roger Peterson, David Rollins, and Brian Wetted/nd be <br />appointed to paid, on-call fire fighter positions contingent upon satisfactory results of the cdminaI <br />background checks, &4ving record checks, and required physical examinations and drug screens. <br />The candidates will be brought on as members on May 9th, 2002. <br />Committee Action: <br />Motion to recommend that City Council authorize the appointments of Timothy Bergerson, John <br />Bromen, Chad Fossum, Daniel Johnson, Matthew Kohner, Dustin Lemke, Roger Peterson, David <br />Rollins, and Brian Wetterlind to the positions of paid, on-call fire fighters on the schedule <br />proposed above and contingent upon satisfactory results fi'om the criminal backgn'ound checks, <br />&lying record checks, and requh'ed physical exam/nations and drug screens. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br />City Administrator <br />Public Works DirectoffFire Chief <br />Assistant City Administrator <br />PC: 04/23/02 <br /> <br />-195- <br /> <br /> <br />
