PC CASE <br /> <br />AUTHORIZE HIRING OF I~TERIM HUMAN RESOURCES CONSULTANT <br /> Heidi Nelson, Assistant City Administrator <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />On February 21st, 2002, the Human Resources Manager was placed on FMLA leave that will <br />extend through the middle of May. At this time, it is unclear when the Human Resources <br />Manager will return to work. At the February 26th Council meeting, Council approved a contract <br />with Labor Relation~ Associates to assist with Human Resom'ces during the absence of Human <br />Resources Manager. Staff has been utilizing the services of Labor Relations since that time. <br />Given the potential extended absence of the Human Resources Manager, staff is proposing <br />utilizing the services of a Human Resources Consultant in-house for the summer months. This <br />consultant would replace the majority of services cun'ently being provided by Labor Relations. <br />Staff is proposing to pay the Consultant at a rate of $30.00/hour, not to exceed $5,000 a month. <br />Staff proposes to fund this with salary budgeted for the Human Resources Manager that is <br />cun'ently not being utilized. <br /> <br />Staff' Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff is recommending that the Council authmSze staff to hire the services of Shannon Elofson to <br />provide interim Human Resources Consulting services at a rate of $30.00/hour, not to exceed <br />$5,000 a month. <br /> <br />Committee Action: <br /> <br />Motion to recommend that the City Council authorize staff to hire the services of Shannon <br />Elofson to provide interim Human Resources Consulting services at a rate of $30.00/hour, not to <br />exceed $5,000 a month. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br />City Administrator <br />Assistant City Administrator <br /> <br />PC: 04/23/02 <br /> <br />-201- <br /> <br /> <br />
