-268- September 3, 2002 Mr, Jim Norman City Administrator Ramsey City Hall 15153 Nowthen Blvd. Ramsey, MN 55303 Ph: 763--427-1410 sUbject: Planning and Zoning Commission Seat Vacancy - Letter of Intent Dear Mr. Norman: I would like to express my intent for filling the current seat vacancy on the Planning and Zoning Commission. Upon moving to Ramsey, my family's intentions were to be long-term residents of Ramsey. After almost 5 years in Ramsey, this intent is stronger than ever. The quality of life coupled with abundant natural surroundings makes this an ideal community. I believe that as our community continues to grow and develop, many of our new residents are selecting Ramsey as their home for the same reasons. With development comes the difficult task of preserving the balance between the important existing elements of Ramsey with building a growing and thriving community for tomorrow. One of the foundations for developing this balance exists within the Planning and ZOning Commission. It is here that I would like to actively extend my community involvement as a member of this Commission. Over the past years, I have become very familiar with the many processes and ordinances involved for land use recommendations to the City Council and staff originating from the P & Z Commission and have attended many of the meetings. Additionally, I have read the Comprehensive Plan and understand its' intentions and guidelines for the future development of the city. I understand the primary role of this Commission as an advisory group to City Council and Staff. I also understand the importance this Commission has in working with developers, residents of Ramsey and all c. oncerned parties in the recommendations regarding land use and development. Through current community activities such as chairing the Environmental Policy Task Force and other concerns, I continue to demonstrate my willingness and dedication in taking an active role in our community.
