-74- <br /> <br />CounCilmember Hendriksen stated that if the City keeps paying for trunk extensions they could <br />burn through 2.2 million dollars very quickly. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated rhat if there was some assurity with future development it would be a better <br />situation, but the project in question is not a large project. If they were talking a couple million <br />dollarS it would be a different situation. <br /> <br />Cotmcilmember Hendriksen stated that if the City adopts a policy that sewer extensions cannot <br />stop in the middle of a property then an existing development won't be disrupted in the future. <br />He stated that if a developer agrees to a development agreement that binds them to the cost of the <br />sewer extension then he does not have a problem with that. <br /> <br />Councilmember Anderson inquired if the City is requesting that a developer increase the size of <br />the pipe and install it deeper than what is necessary for their development then what do they do. <br /> <br />CounCilmember Hendriksen replied that the developer would be required to construct the larger <br />infrastructure. <br /> <br />Councilmember Anderson stated that then the developer will construct smaller pipes and lift <br />stations. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen replied that if a Councilmember chooses to approve that then that is <br />what they have to live with. <br /> <br />Councilmember Anderson stated that what she is concerned about is that if she takes the <br />engineer's recommendation they are asking the developer to pay a lot more than he is utilizing. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen replied that there is sometking called the luck of the draw. <br /> <br />Councilmember Anderson stated that there is a fund that the City can use to help pay for the over <br />sizing of the pipe. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen replied that the City has protected themselves in the past and should <br />continue to do so.
