Compliance Method for all applications of the ICC 700 -2008 including: <br />o Single family and multi -unit new construction <br />o Renovations and additions <br />Green subdivision development <br />Requirements and prescriptions for all chapters within the ICC 700 -2008: <br />• Site design & development <br />• Lot design, preparation, and development <br />• Resource efficiency <br />• Energy efficiency <br />• Water efficiency <br />• Indoor environmental quality <br />o Operation, maintenance and building owner education <br />ICC -700, which provides guidance for safe and sustainable building practices for residential construction, <br />including new and renovated single - family to high -rise residential buildings, is the first and only green <br />standard that is consistent and coordinated with the ICC family of international codes (I- Codes) and <br />standards, according to the ICC. <br />The organization also said this new standard provides a practical route to green, sustainable and high - <br />performance construction, especially in communities with little if any green/sustainable buildings or <br />guidelines to build green. <br />What is LEED? <br />LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design <br />LEED was created to define green building by establishing a common standard of measurement, <br />promoting integrated, whole - building design practices, and recognized environmental leadership <br />in the building industry. <br />In order to succeed, an environmentally designed, constructed and operated facility needs to have <br />cooperation and vision of everyone involved: building owner, architect, engineer, interior <br />designer, site planner, manager, product manufacturers, and local utilities. <br />LEED provides the complete framework for assessing building performance and meeting sustainability <br />goals. A point system for the following categories is used to determine attainment of certification: <br />• Energy usage and atmosphere <br />• Indoor air quality <br />• Sustainable sites <br />• Materials and resources <br />• Water efficiency <br />• Design and process innovation <br />The higher standards established for LEED certification not only reduce operating cost, but also offer tax <br />incentives, rebates and other economic benefits. <br />LEED Standards: Certified, Silver, Gold, Platinum <br />Scorecard: <br />
