Public Works Street Supervisor Riemer reviewed the staff report. <br />Eric Zerwas of First Scribe gave a software demonstration to the Committee. <br />Mayor Ramsey asked how our ROW permits are done now. <br />Street Supervisor Riemer answered it is usually done by fax and kept in a file to keep track of the <br />work. <br />Eric Zerwas summarized the information requesting for now would be put into digital format and <br />the work could be mapped out and from that point the application would be submitted. <br />Chairperson Elvig asked how many permits were being issued back two or three years ago. <br />Street Supervisor Riemer responded at its peak about 35 permits a month. <br />Councilmember Dehen asked how all this is stored. <br />Eric Zerwas responded that this is all stored on First Scribes system. <br />Mayor Ramsey asked about the cost. <br />City Engineer Himmer responded $200 a month. 0 -50 permits is $200 a month. 50 -100 is $250 a <br />month. <br />Mayor Ramsey asked Eric Zerwas what is the extent of what they do because he would like to <br />see more automated processes for permitting in other areas. <br />Eric Zerwas responded ROW permits is what they focus on the hurdle most cities have with <br />other area of permitting electronically is because most cities do not accept credit cards. <br />Mayor Ramsey asked if there is a term commitment for the service. <br />Erik Zerwas responded it is a month by month commitment. <br />City Engineer Himmer asked if at the end of a term is all the information recorded and stored <br />part of the monthly fee and that no extra charges would be billed. <br />Eric Zerwas responded all of the information is part of the data base and it is part of the monthly <br />fee and this would be stated in the contract. <br />Motion by Mayor Ramsey, seconded by Chairperson Elvig to authorize staff to execute a <br />contract with First Scribe for ROW permitting software package. <br />Public Works Committee / October 19, 2010 <br />Page 2 of 6 <br />
