MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />Mayor and City Council <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />Diana Lund, Finance Officer <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />November 26, 2002 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />Approval to Operate a Raffle <br /> <br />The attached application from Carpenter's Local #851 for exemption from a lawful gambling <br />license to hold a raffle during their annual picnic at the Rum River Park in the City of Ramsey. <br />City approval/denial is necessary under the State Statues. The Carpenter's Local #851 meets all <br />of the requirements which allows them to remain exempt fi.om licensing, primarily fi.om the <br />standpoint that the commodities to be raffled are valued at less than $12,000 <br /> <br />Approval requires nothing more than a motion followed by a letter to the Gambling Control <br />Board, while if the request is denied, a formal resolution for denial would need to be prepared <br />and submitted to the Gambling Control Board. <br /> <br />¢-!5 <br /> <br />-15- <br /> <br /> <br />
