FC CASE # <br /> <br />AERIAL LADDER TRUCK BID AWARD <br /> By: Dean Kapler, Fire Chief <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The 2002 budget included funding for the purchase of an aerial ladder truck. The Fire <br />Department Truck Committee created specifications and solicited bids. (Authorized on <br />May 14, 2002) Six manufacturers bid on the specifications, raw numbers ranged from <br />$613,187 to $739,731. Taking into account prepay discounts and added separate bid <br />items, the extended bid amounts ranged from $631,612 to $755,968. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff is recommending that General Safety Equipment is the lowest responsible'bidder <br />at $631,612. After reviewing the specifications, staff is also recommending some-minor <br />changes to equipment resulting in amended cost of $629,812. Staff recommends <br />General Safety Equipment be awarded the bid in amount of $629,812. <br /> <br />Funding Source: <br /> <br />Earlier funds were authorized to be transferred from the equipment replacement fund to <br />purchase the aerial ladder truck. <br /> <br />Finance Committee Action: <br /> <br />Motion to City Council to accept/reject General Safety Equipment as the lowest <br />responsible bidder and enter into a purchase agreement for the sum of $629,812. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Accept Finance Committee recommendation. <br /> <br />Reviewed By: <br />City Administrator <br />Fire Chief <br />Finance Director <br /> <br />-305- <br /> <br /> <br />
