The Council discussed the alternatives and reached the consensus to stay away from high density <br />(townhomes, apartments, etc.), but senior assisted living development proposals would be looked <br />at; to market this area as R -l; and for staff to obtain an appraisal of the property. Council also <br />agreed they would look at offering the land for free if someone agreed to build a fire station for <br />the City and to look at a PUD for the property. <br />2) Architectural Standards in Residential Districts <br />Associate Planner Gladhill reviewed staffs report. <br />The Council discussed the options of adding incentives if additional materials were added to a <br />development. <br />It was Council's consensus to have staff come back with the minimum standards <br />recommendation. <br />Council discussed the maintenance code and recommended staff proceed with their <br />recommendations. <br />Council discussed accessory structures and recommended increasing the size of the accessory <br />building to reduce the number of requests received. Council requested staff come back to the <br />Council with recommendations regarding architectural standards, flexibility on size, etc and <br />bring this issue back to a Council worksession for further discussion. <br />3) Green Building/Sustainable Development <br />Planning Manager Miller reviewed staff's report. <br />The Council discussed green developments, geothermal possibilities, what the City wanted to <br />accomplish, certification needed, possible incentives including tax abatements, attempting to <br />obtain grant funds through various sources, and if a green development would attract or detract <br />businesses from coming into the City. <br />4) Consider Design Services for Council Dias and Entry Door Modifications <br />Deputy City Administrator Nelson reviewed staff's report. <br />Council discussed modifying the dais and the west entry door. <br />It was Council's consensus to obtain further information as to the cost of the dais modifications <br />and to obtain a bid for the door modification. <br />Mayor Ramsey requested a bid be obtained for a key pad to be put on the fire emergency door in <br />the Itasca Room. <br />City Council Work Session / November 16, 2010 <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />
