He stated this detached garage would not be a second garage; it would be the primary <br />garage because he was going to turn the existing garage into a family room. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec asked if the garage were set at an angle, would they eliminate the existing <br />driveway. <br /> <br />Mr. Ronallo stated he would like to use the existing driveway but angle it around the existing <br />tree into the new garage. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen asked what was the logic to the 40-foot setback. <br /> <br />Community Development Director Frolik stated the 40-foot setback is 40 feet in this <br />neighborhood so the side yard setback should be equal to the front yard setback. <br /> <br />Mr. Ronallo stated he it so it did not look detached and flowed together. <br /> ,,~-~.~ <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec asked~'i~he >ool. <br /> <br />Mr. Ronallo stated he would etween the two garages and have a patio,between <br />them with a fence. <br /> <br />Community Development Director stated the sting garage was 44 feet from the existing <br />property line and come July 11, the ne? 4 feet closer than the existing garage. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman stated that if the Commission could not find a <br />hardship, he could not either. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated the hardship was a reqq granted so many variances <br />based on looks of the area but he would not have any probl~ <br /> <br />Councilmember Kurak stated there were three letters from had no problem <br />with this at all. <br /> <br />Councilmember Anderson stated she would go along with the Planning and Zoning Commission <br />and Board of Adjustments, and felt the letter from Bob Limbic made a lot of sense. <br /> <br />Mr. Ronallo stated he had been in the area since 1965 and grew up in the City.. <br /> <br />Councilmember Anderson stated the angled garage did not line up with the rest of area. <br /> <br />Mr. Ronallo stated he wanted the garage to flow with the rest of the house and still be able to get <br />the driveway in there Without taking out the tree. <br /> <br />City Council/June 25, 2002 <br />Page 23 of 33 <br /> <br />-60- <br /> <br /> <br />
