I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />Councilmember <br />adoption: <br /> <br />introduced the following resolution and moved for its <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #02-06- <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION APROVING AN AMENDMENT TO THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN <br />AND AUTHORIZING CITY STAFF TO SUBMIT THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN <br />AMENDMENT TO METROPOLITAN COUNCIL <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey received a request for an amendment to the <br />Comprehensive Plan from Thomas Kurak (the Applicant) for the purpose of amending the land <br />use designation of the property shown on Attachment A (the Subject Property); and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the 2001 Comprehensive Plan shows the Subject Properties' designated <br />land use as Low Density Urban Residential; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Applicant is requesting that the 300 feet around the perimeter of the <br />Subject Property remain as Low Density Urban Residential with the remaining portion of the <br />Subject Property be designated as Medium Density Urban Residential; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Ramsey Planning Commission and City Council conducted a public <br />hearing on January 24, 2002 in order to take testimony regarding the proposed land use change; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Ramsey Planning Commission met on February 7, 2002 and <br />recommended that the land use designation for the Subject Properties remain as Low Density <br />Urban Residential. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Ramsey Comprehensive Plan states that as a general City goal, <br />residential developments should ensure a variety of housing types to satisfy the life-cycle <br />housing needs of Ramsey residents; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Ramsey Comprehensive Plan states that the City shall ensure that <br />housing alternatives are available to people of all ages, income, physical ability, and ethnicity; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the land use designation of medium density residential for the Subject <br />Property allows for a variety housing styles that assist the City attain the Comprehensive Plan <br />goals; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the land use designation of medium density residential for the Subject <br />Property, coupled with the 300-foot buffer of low density residential is compatible with the <br />existing neighborhoods surrounding the Subject Property; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, adequate public infrastructure is or can be made available in a timely <br />manner that will be able to service the Subject Property. <br /> <br />-109- <br /> <br /> <br />
