Councilmember Elvig introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING STAFF TO BEGIN THE RECRUITMENT PROCESS <br />FOR AN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT / MARKETING MANAGER <br />WHEREAS, the Deputy City Administrator /Community Development Director <br />conducted an analysis of the City's economic development priorities and functions and <br />determined that there is a need to hire a dedicated economic development position; and <br />WHEREAS, an Economic Development/Marketing Manager will focus on developing <br />and maintaining the City's Business Retention Program and developing and coordinating <br />marketing and promotional activities designed to attract new development city wide; and <br />WHEREAS, due to the resignation of the Human Resources Manager /Assistant Director <br />of Administrative Services staff is unable to reassign Information and Technology and Facilities <br />to the Human Resources Manager /Assistant Director of Administrative Services which would <br />have enabled the Deputy City Administrator to focus the City's economic development and HRA <br />priorities and thereby reducing her available time in these areas. <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br />1) That the Ramsey City Council confirms the recommendation of the Personnel Committee <br />to do the following: <br />Make a motion recommending the City Council authorize staff to begin the recruitment <br />process for an Economic Development/Marketing Manager. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Jeffrey , and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br />Mayor Ramsey <br />Councilmember Elvig <br />Councilmember Jeffrey <br />Councilmember McGlone <br />Councilmember Wise <br />and the following voted against the same. <br />Councilmember Dehen <br />Councilmember Look <br />and the following abstained: <br />RESOLUTION #10 -08 -167 <br />
