CASE # <br /> <br />REPORT FROM PUBLIC WORKS <br />By: Public Works Staff <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The Public Works Committee met on Tuesday, May 21, 2002 and discussed the <br />following four cases: <br /> <br />Case # 1 'A Discussion of Dirt versus Paved Streets <br /> <br />Staff presented an analysis of maintenance costs associated with dirt and paved streets. <br />The Committee recommended the preparation of feasibility studies for each of the <br />remaining dirt streets in the City. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Ratify recommendation of the Committee to prepare a Feasibility Study for each of the <br />dirt streets in the City utilizing a City contribution of 50% of the total project cost which <br />is comparable to the paved street maintenance program. <br /> <br />Case #2 <br /> <br />Update to Highlands at River Park <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The Committee was presented the projected schedule of implementation of the <br />construction to accomplish the sewer and water improvements for Highlands at River <br />Park. Staff was directed by motion to allow the Contractor to close Alpine Drive NW to <br />complete the construction activities sooner, but the Contractor would not be allowed to <br />begin construction activities on Alpine Drive until a notice was mailed to the <br />neighborhood and school had recessed for the year. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Ratify recommendation of the Committee <br /> <br />Case #3 <br /> <br />Consider Modifications to Street Lighting System <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />Staff presented some concerns that Connexus and the Illuminating Engineering Standards <br />have with our current subdivision lighting scheme. Staff also asked for the ability to <br />extend the lighting scheme on Sunwood Drive NW between Ramsey Boulevard and <br /> <br />-201- <br /> <br /> <br />
