Councihnember RESOLUTION ROAD #5 introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #02-04-XXX REQUESTING A REDUCED SPEED ZONE ON ANOKA COUNTY WHEREAS, on April 8, 2002, an Transportation policy became effective; and amended Anoka Hennepin District #11 Student WHEREAS, said amended policy will bring about increased bicycle and pedestrian traffic on County Road #5 in the area of the Ramsey Elementary School during certain times; and WHEREAS, there now exists a 45 mile per hour speed zone in that area as permitted by Minnesota Statutes; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes permit the speed within this existing zone to be further reduced to 35 miles per hour; and WHEREAS, Anoka County has jurisdiction upon this roadway; and WHEREAS, the Ramsey City Council, Anoka County, and Anoka Hennepin School District # 11 are jointly committed to maintaining traffic safety in this school zone; and WHEREAS, the Ramsey Police Department actively enforces the speed limit within this zone. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: 1) That the Ramsey City Council hereby requests that the Anoka County Highway Department initiate the legal process to reduce the speed limit in the existing Ramsey Elementary School zone from 45 miles per hour to 35 miles per hour between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. 2) That the Ramsey Police Department is hereby directed to continue active enforcement of the speed limit within this school zone. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by C, ouncilmember , and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: and the following voted against the same: and the following abstained: · 12 -q -135-
