I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />CASE #: ~' <br /> <br />REPORT FROM PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE <br /> By: Public Works Staff <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The Public Works Committee met on Tuesday, March 19, 2002 and discussed the following · <br />cases: <br /> <br />Case #1: Water System Update <br /> <br />I <br />! <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />During the discussion of the 2002-2006 C~, questions arose regarding the placement of water <br />supply wells in the western well field. Bolten & Menk completed a water supply plan in 1999. <br />A recommendation of the study was to annually update the study. Mr. Bob Brown of Bolten & <br />Menk was present at the meeting to discuss the water supply system as. it related to the CIP. <br />Consensus of the Committee was to direct Bolten & Menk to prepare a proposal to update the <br />water supply plan and to include the financial options available to fund a Iron and lV~. anganese <br />treatment plant. _ l~/ <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Motion to ratify the recommendations of the Public works Committee. <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The Committee reviewed staff recommendations concerning the implementation of fees <br />associated with the City's fight-of-way ordinance. <br /> <br />After Committee discussion, the fee schedule below was suggested for consideration: <br /> <br />(t) <br /> <br />A nonrefundable permit fee on City roadways for underground utility installation: $75 <br />plus $15 per driveway and $20 per street crossing. <br /> <br />(2) <br /> <br />A nonrefundable permit fee on City roadways for all overhead utility installation: $75 <br />plus $0.05 per linear foot. <br /> <br />(3) <br /> <br />(4) <br /> <br />A bond shall be required for all underground utility projects in a minimum amount of <br />$10,000 for projects under one mile in length plus ~ per additional mile. The release <br />of the bond shall be __ months following acceptance of the restoration by the City. <br /> <br />A late tee of $ shall be charged for each and every (calendar) (work) day beyond the <br />allowed completion date specified in the fight-of-way permit. This charge shall apply to <br />all public fight-of-way within the City of Ramsey including State and County fight-of <br />way. <br /> <br />-87- <br /> <br /> <br />
