Motion by Member LeTourneau, seconded by Member Elvig, to adjourn and go into a closed <br />session. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Riley, Members LeTourneau, Elvig, Skaff, Steffen, and <br />Williams. Voting No: None. Absent: Member Look. <br />Chairperson Riley re- opened the EDA meeting at 10:00 a.m. <br />Case #2: REVIEW SHOP QA — WEB BASED APPLICATION FOR ECONOMIC <br />DEVELOPMENT /SHOP LOCAL INITIATIVES <br />Economic Development/Marketing Manager Backman presented the Staff report. <br />Chairperson Riley asked if the other pilot cities of Buffalo and Cottage Grove have put time and <br />effort into the program <br />Economic Development/Marketing Manager Backman stated the cities have put some time in <br />implementation; however he has no tabulation of hours at this time. <br />Chairperson Riley stated the price was fine, but not if businesses are not keeping up their websites. <br />Member LeTourneau stated that what is happening is that there are micro sites that are hosted by the <br />City website and anything happening on the micro sites optimizes the host site. It is his opinion that <br />this option is very expensive, there is no maintenance and there are other choices. <br />Economic Development/Marketing Manager Backman stated that the Buffalo City Administrator <br />told him that those who benefit the most are those small businesses that do not have the resources to <br />do marketing and publicity. <br />Member Skaff left the meeting at 10:15 a.m. <br />Member Elvig stated that combining a shop local program and going green initiatives would be <br />more beneficial. <br />Motion by Member LeTourneau, seconded by Member Elvig to pass on this opportunity. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Riley, Members LeTourneau, Elvig, Steffen, and <br />Williams. Voting No: None. Absent: Members Look and Skaff. <br />MEMBER INPUT <br />Economic Development/Marketing Manager Backman stated the TIF agreement for the QDP /JBT <br />alliance will be brought to the City Council to divide the agreement and split the proceeds between <br />them, as they are less of an alliance and more co- existing in the building. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />Motion by Member LeTourneau, seconded by Member Steffen, to adjourn the meeting. <br />Economic Development Authority/November 18, 2010 <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />
