PC CASE <br /> <br />FIRE OFFICER SELECTIONS FOR YEAR 2002 <br /> By: Dean Kapler, Fire Chief <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The Fire Department Officers group is made up of the following positions: <br /> Assistant Fire Chief (2) <br /> Captains (2) <br /> Lieutenants (2) <br /> Training Officer (1) <br /> <br />As in the past the command positions (Asst Chiefs, Captains and Lieutenants) carry a 2 <br />year term, with half the group available for application in each year. The Training Officer <br />term is one year. This allows both opportunity for change while also keeping some level <br />of stability within the ranks. <br /> <br />For the year 2002 the following positions were open for application: <br /> Assistant Chief #2 <br /> Captain #12 <br /> Lieutenant #2 <br /> Training Officer <br /> <br />Historically the Fire Chief has conducted applicant interviews and makes a <br />recommendation to the City Administrator for approval. In this case the interviews were <br />completed in December of 2001 and the recommendation was discussed with the City <br />Administrator in January 2002. The following is a list of the recommendations of the Fire <br />Chief, which the City Administrator has approved: <br /> <br /> Position Recommendation <br />Assistant Fire Chief (Chief#2) Tom Hoxter <br />Assistant Fire Chief (Chief #3) Bob Simpson <br />Captain (Captain #11) Chris Weiss <br />Captain (Captain #12) Ron Lemm <br />Lieutenant (Lieutenant # 1) Jerry Streich <br />Lieutenant (Lieutenant #2) Dave Lewandowski <br />Training Officer Ron Lemm <br /> <br />Each position carries both administrative and command responsibilities. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends to Personnel Committee to motion to accept Fire Chiefs and City <br />Administrator's recommendation of Fire Department Officers for 2002. <br /> <br />-339- <br /> <br /> <br />
