The Applicant has submitted a new rezoning <br />and comprehensive plan amendment request along with a sketch plan reflecting a medium density <br />residential development. <br /> <br />The following items are enclosed for your information: <br /> <br />a) Site Location Map <br />b) General development plan for the subject property <br />c) Drat~ Planning Commission minutes dated January 3, 2002 <br />d) Proposed Resolution approving the Comprehensive Plan amendment and authorizing <br /> submittal of amendment to Metropolitan Council <br /> <br />Notification: <br /> <br />State law requires that the City notify property owners within 350 feet of the subject property of <br />the public hearing. Staff sent the public notice to property owners within 700 feet of the subject <br />property. <br /> <br />Observations: <br /> <br />_The City Council adopted the March 2001 Comprehensive Plan-Amendment on December 18, <br />2001. The 2001 Comprehensive Plan designates the subject property being used for Places to <br />Shop. Edina Development is asking for an amendment to the 2001 Comprehensive Plan to allow <br />for a medium density residential project on the property that would allow up to 7 units per acre. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />At their January 3, 2002 meeting, the Planning Commission held a public hearing and reviewed <br />the request to change the land use to medium density residential. The Planning Commission <br />recommended that the City Council approve the request. <br /> <br />-183- <br /> <br /> <br />
