hundred acres of municipal parks. These parks and trail segments are spread out around the City <br /> without a contiguous network of perpetua/open space to eormect them. Connection opportunities <br /> exist in the Form of publicly owned lands throughout the city, and proposed acquisitions such as <br /> the Trott Brook Corridor, and the trails associated with the Rum and MisSissippi River. <br /> · The project a~ea has £ew natural communities but several rare species and ecosystem occurrences <br /> identified by the MCBS and is critical to provide connections between the Mississippi River and <br /> the Rum River around the City of Anoka. The project will also complement the proposal in <br /> Burns Township since Ford Brook, which originates in Burns Township and is their primary <br /> ~eenway, flows into the City of Ramsey where it enters Trott Brook. <br /> · This project is an initiative of the City of Ramsey in cooperation with the Anoka Conservation <br /> District and has support from the Lower Rum River WMO and Anoka County Parks. <br /> The letters of support and contribution from local government entities are attached. <br /> · The match will be met through cash and in-kind contributions fi.om the City of Ramsey as well <br /> as in-kind contributions fi.om the ACD. The ACD will primarily provide its in-kind match <br /> through redistribution of staff time (hired on soft money). The Cky of Ramsey will hire a <br /> consulting firm to conduct the comprehensive planning effort. Also, local government staff and <br /> officials will spend time preparing for and attending meetings, conducting public hearings and <br /> conducting analysis greenways for consideration in plans and ordinances. <br /> · The City of Ramsey is undertaking a comprehensive planning effort due to the high demand for <br /> residential development and their location just outside_the MUSA and they desire to consider <br /> greenways in their planning.
