PROVIDE RESPONSE TO THE NORTHSTAR CORRIDOR DEVELOPMENT
AUTHORITY FOR SITING OF MULTI-MODAL FACILITY
By: James E. Norman, City Administrator

Background:

The Northstar Corridor Development Authority (NCDA) designated a potential rail station or
multi-modal facility in the City of Ramsey, approximately a year ago. The site designated is a
site immediately adjacent to and west of Ramsey Boulevard. A great deal of discussion has
taken place recently among City Council during the Comprehensive Plan consideration regarding
the site location of the multi-modal facility. The Council appears to have a consensus to locate
the multi-modal facility to the western half of Section 28.

In a letter dated December 14, 2000, from the Executive Director of the Anoka County Regional
Railroad Authority (ACRRA), Tim Yantos requested that the City indicate their preference for a
site (letter attached to case). The City should go on record to formally inform the ACRRA and
the NCDA that the City's preference for a multi-modal and rail station site should be to the east
of Armstrong Boulevard and no further than two City blocks east of Armstrong Boulevard.

Council Action:

Based upon discussion.

Reviewed by:

City Administrator

Copies also distributed to:

Community Development Director

CC: 03/13/01
