Councilmember Zimmerman stated that if the course is job related then they should be <br />reimbursed for the class. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen replied that he felt it should go beyond job related courses. He <br />stated that he would like the City of Ramsey to be known as a good place to work and that in <br />doing a good job as an employee they will be rewarded and encouraged to move up and take on <br />more responsibilities. <br /> <br />Councilmember Anderson stated that a reference was made to the amount being reimbursed is <br />based on the grade received and inquired if some of the classes taken are simply graded pass or <br />fail. <br /> <br />Human Resources Manager Heryla replied that most of the courses are graded pass/fail. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that if an employee fails a course they should not always be <br />reimbursed, but he does not want to discourage someone from taking a tougher course. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Hendriksen, seconded by Mayor Gamec, to direct staff to re-write the <br />Tuition Reimbursement Policy based on the discussion and present it to the City Council for <br />review. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Hendriksen, Anderson, Kurak, <br />and Zimmerman.
