COUNCIL BUSINESS Case #1: Public Hearing on the Proposed ReNaming of 149t~' Avenue NW East of T.H. ~q47 to Sunwood Drive NW Mayor Gamec closed the regular portion of the City Council meeting at 7:08 p.m. in order to conduct a public hearing. Public Hearing Mayor Gamec called the public hearing to order at 7:08 p.m. Presentation City Engineer Jankowski presented the Council with a map illustrating a segment of 149"' Avenue that was being proposed to be renamed Sunwood Drive NW. The segment is a collector street which currently extends from T.H. #47 to C.R. #57 (Sunfish Lake Boulevard NW). Another segment of Sunwood Drive exists between C.R. #1.16 and C.R. #56, and the section between C.R. #57 and C.R. #116 is planned for construction in 2001. It is likely that Sunwood Drive will also be extended to Armstrong Boulevard NW and possibly beyond. This planned roadway has been constructed in segments with the vision of establishing continuous collector streets. Since 149"~ Avenue NW is also a collector roadway, although not originally envisioned in its current alignment with Sunwood Drive, it would be less confi.~sing for 149t~ Avenue NW to have a name consistent with its extension west across T.H. #47. This name change would not require any address changes, since all properties abutting 149th Avenue have front yards and addresses on the residential side streets. Citizen Input There was none. Motion by Councilmember Zimmerman, seconded by Councilmember Kurak, to close the public hearing. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councihnembers Zimmerman, Kurak, Anderson, m~d Hendriksen.
