Council member adoption: introduced the following resolution and moved for its RESOLUTION #01-01- RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND THE RAMSEY POLICY DEPARTMENT FOR A YOUTH TOBACCO PREVENTION INITIATIVE GRANT WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Ramsey recognizes that the illegal sale and use of tobacco products by the juveniles of our community has been a continuing problem and is of increasing public concern; and WHEREAS, the mission of the Ramsey Police Department is to reduce juvenile use of tobacco products through educating juveniles and retailers and through-aggressive enforcement or' Ramscy Ordinance #98-02; and WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey, a Charter City as defined by applicable State Statutes, is empowered to enter into a grant agreement with the Minnesota Department of Health; and WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey represents that it is duly qualified and willing to perform the services set forth herein by assigning such duties to the Ramsey Police Department. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: That the City of Ramsey Police Department shall work with the State of Minnesota, concerned community groups and individuals and other grantees who have like Minnesota Youth Tobacco Prevention Initiative Grant agreements to change the social environment at the community level to make juvenile access ~o and use of tobacco products undesirable and unacceptable. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember , and upon vote.being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: and the following voted against the same: and the following abstained: and the following were absent: Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council the 9th day of January, 2001.
