NVI_----RICAN
TOW----R

November 16, 2000

City of Ramsey
Planning Department: ATTN Sylvia
15 i53 Nowthen Boulevard NW
Ramsey, kin 55303

RE: Revised CUT' Application materials for a 175' Sell-Supporting Communications Tower

Dear Sylvia:

Enclosed are the revised materials that you requested. We have included a landscaping plan with our site plan/tower
drawings and have provided you with propagation maps from three (3) different sites. Those sites include our
proposed site on the Volk property (Map A), the 180' Self-Support Tower to the West (Map B), and the water tower
that's being currently be constructed to the North of the Volk property (Map C). As you can see on Map B, co-
locating on the e~sting tower to the West leave a significant hole in the coverage area. Although the water tower
site has similar coverage to our proposed tower on the Volk property, there are several reasons why the water tower
site is no._At a primary option for Ver/zon Wire[ess. Two of the main reasons are:

1.) Since Verizon plar~ on co-locating on an existing City of Ramsey water tower located near the intersection of
County Road 47 & County Road 5, locating on the furore water tower off Ramsey Bird (Letter C) would cause a
potential overlap in coverage with these two (2) sites.

2.) Verizon needs their coverage gaps to be filled as soon as possible (January, 2001). Since the water tower will
not be f'mished until at least July of 2001 (per Steve lanchowski / Public Works Dept), this timeline is not suitable
for Verizon

Thank you for your time and consideration in reviewing this application. As far as the Self-Support
Tower vs. the Monopole Tower desig-n, we are proposing the Setf-&tpport Tower because it will hold
more carriers and the carriers will have more options (location and height of antennas) on a Self-Support
Tower. If you should have any questions or concerns about this proposal or need any further information,
please feel free to contact me at (763)-493-0027 ext. 241 or (612)-670-0101. Thanks again and we look
forward to working with you on this application.

Sincerely,

Jason Hall
American Tower
Senior Zoning Representative

I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

I
I
I

AMERICAN TOWER CORPORATION · 9472 HEMLOCK LANE NORTH, IvlAPL~ GROVE, MINNESOTA 55369 · 612/493-0027 · FAX 612/493-0036
-154-
