I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I PC CASE # FIRE OFFICER SELECTIONS FOR YEAR 2001 By: Dean Kapler, Fire Chief Background: The Fire Department Officers group has been made up to include the following positions: Assistant Fire Chief(l) Captains (2) Lieutenants (2) Training Officer (1) In 1999 the position of an additional Assistant Fire Chief was added to coincide with the second fire station. Each position carries a term of two years and half are up for consideration each year, thus providing some level of stability within the dept. Historically the Fire Chief has conducted applicant interviews and makes a recommendation to the City Administrator for approval. In this case the interviews were completed' in December of' 2000 and the reconunendation was discussed with the City Administrator in early January 2001. The following is a list of the recommendations of the Fire Chief, which the City Administrator has approved: Position Recommendation Assistant Fire Chief (Chief #2) Tom Hoxter Assistant Fire Chief (Chief #3) Bob Simpson Captain (Captain #11) Captain (Captain #12) Lieutenant (Lieutenant #1) Lieutenant (Lieutenant #2) Training Officer Jim Sharp Chris Weiss Jerry Streich Dave Lewandowski Ron Lemm Each position carries both administrative and command responsibilities. Staff Recommendation: Staff recommends to Personnel Committee to motion to accept Fire Chief's and City Administrator's recommendation of Fire Department Officers for 2001. Committee Action: Recommend to City Council to accept Fire Chief's and City Administrator's recommendation. Council Action: Motion to accept Fire Chief's and City Administrator's recommendation of Fire Department Officers for 2001.
